Creating Community By Neighborhoods

“To create enduring beauty requires intense collaboration between people who share the purpose of creating something truly unique.” --Alan Moore, "Do/Design"In this book, subtitled "Why beauty is the key to everything," the author/designer notes that people passionately embrace what they create. There is also much evidence that people are stimulated by attractive and unique physical environments - which most of us experience at the community level.  Local beautification and "greening" projects which bring people together in their neighborhoods, e.g. the tree conservation effort pictured here, can be most effective in creating a more intense sense of place which people will embrace.Yet the author also warns that such efforts take patience and time - so let's get started with our neighbors now.
