My “Circles” Book on TV

From “Off the Shelf” GVTV Program

Memorable Television Feature

I recently had the chance to discuss my book, "The Circles: An Architectural Heritage," on Glenview Television with host Yvonne Wolf, known for her cultural programming. This was a great opportunity to explore the challenging balance of neighborhood design and architectural conservation that my book launched. And in the process touch on Downtown revitalization, “Blocktoberfests” and related suburban design issues.

More Than “Preservation”

"The Circles" isn’t just a tour through architectural history; it's a prompt to consider how our environments shape us. The book delves into environmental and landscape changes over the decades.  This conversation extends beyond the mere preservation of buildings to an appreciation of evolving community dynamics.

Linking Past to Present

The timing of the interview was fortuitous, coinciding with the centennial of "The Circles" and the 125th anniversary of Glenview. These milestones are a testament to the enduring attraction and resilience of our community. The discussion on TV was not a book promotion,  but rather a timely reflection on heritage in the context of current national challenges - and the importance of beauty in the balance. Engaging in Community Through Design

My involvement in Glenview’s architectural review processes and issues has been pivotal in local and regional efforts (“MDRN”) for blending new designs with historical aesthetics. By balancing modern needs with traditional values, we assure that our community retains its character while still embracing change and growth.

Driving Passions: From Architecture to Mustangs

In the interview, I shared insights into the broader themes of suburban design, downtown revitalization, and even the aesthetics of my 1966 Mustang, which illustrate how my diverse interests fit with community involvement.

To Appreciate and Conserve

Ultimately, my goal through the book and the interview is to inspire a deeper connection to the places we live and work. By sharing the architectural history and the stories of Glenview, I hope to motivate others to appreciate and protect our communities.

This television appearance provided a great opportunity to reach out to the community and invite others to participate in shaping its future.
